Bell Dominates Friday Night’s NXS Race In Richmond

Christopher Bell dominated last weekend’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race in Las Vegas. He just got beat due to Tyler Reddick somehow stretching his fuel 70 laps over the final stint. On Friday night at the Richmond (VA) Raceway, he ensured that didn’t happen again.

Bell, led the final 165 laps of the opening race of the NXS playoffs en route to a dominating win. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver led 238 of the 250 laps in scoring his 15th career win and seventh of the season.

He won both stages for the second straight race and the third time he swept the stages since Kentucky in July. It was also the sixth time this season alone that he swept both stages in a race.

Bell, now has nine top three finishes over his last 12 starts on the season including three wins and five runner-ups in his No. 20 Toyota in that time frame. Furthermore, he’s won three of the last four races on the .75-mile short track too.

Pole sitter Austin Cindric led nine laps on Friday night and finished second to Bell. It was Cindric’s first top five result since coming home runner-up to Bell in Road America. The Team Penske driver does have five top five finishes in his last eight starts on the season including six top 10’s in that time frame as well.

Cindric, came home runner-up in the spring race too as he now has three top five finishes in four Richmond starts.

Cole Custer brought his No. 00 Ford home third for his fifth straight top 10 on the season and ninth in the last 11 overall. Custer, was victorious back in April in Richmond.

Justin Allgaier would finish fourth in his No. 7 Chevrolet for his fifth top eight finish in his last seven Richmond starts to go along with 11 consecutive top 10 finishes on the season.

Chase Briscoe rounded out the top five in his No. 98 Ford.

10 of the 12 playoff drivers came away with top 12 finishes on Friday night.

The race saw three cautions in the first 59 laps, all for single car incidents. But, from Lap 75 on, the only cautions were for stage breaks.
