INDIANAPOLIS — This has been a big week in terms of USAC Midget driver and team shakeups. Cole Bodine was announced as Zeb Wise’s replacement at Clauson-Marshall Racing. Also, Chris Windom and 2019 USAC National Midget Series Rookie of the Year Andrew Layser leave CMR for Tucker-Boat Motorsports too. They’ll join Christopher Bell with the team as Bell will race in the Chili Bowl for them.
Bell, left Keith Kunz Motorsports for that move. Now, KKM has Bell’s replacement — Wise.
The 17 year old Indiana native left Clauson-Marshall for a Sprint Car ride. But, he will go back to the Midget Series for a Chili Bowl seat with KKM, the team that has won the Chili Bowl in each of the last four years.
Wise, will drive the No. 71 Toyota in the prestigious event next month. He says he and Keith Kunz have been in contact the past few weeks of this potential deal.
The Angola native had three wins in 2019 including the BC 39 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was one spot away of transferring to the A-Main in last year’s Chili Bowl but now takes over the car that has won in three consecutive years.
