Team Penske has been one of the best superspeedway teams in the NASCAR Cup Series lately. That’s shown in the opening Cup Series race of the year too.
On Sunday, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney will look to give Penske their third win in the last four years in the annual Busch Clash at Daytona (3 p.m. ET/FS1/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) victory.
In 2017, Logano led only four laps en route to a victory in his No. 22 Ford. In 2018, Keselowski dominated in leading 43 laps in his dominating victory. Keselowski, beat Logano in a 1-2 Penske finish in 2018.
Keselowski, has brought his No. 2 Ford home in the top 10 in five of his seven tries. Hes led laps in five of the last six races too. In fact, he’s led 97 laps in total and if he can lead at least two laps on Sunday, he will pass Dale Earnhardt for fifth on the all-time lap leaders chart for the Clash. If he can lead at least 12 laps, he will pass Jeff Gordon for fourth. Furthermore, he’s 24 laps away from getting by Tony Stewart for third. Keselowski, has led at least 26 laps in two of his last four Clash starts, so there’s a good chance he rises up.
Logano, has four consecutive top three finishes in the season opening race and seven straight top sixes.
The third driver in Blaney has two career Clash starts and finished fourth in each.
With those stats, want to bet against them on Sunday?

If anyone is going to beat Penske, it’s JGR. They’ve won three of the last six Clashes with Denny Hamlin winning two of them. Hamlin, has three top six finishes in his last six Clash races and led 27 laps in 2014, 39 in 2016 and 48 more in 2017. He’s eight laps led away from passing Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the most laps led ever in the Clash.
His JGR teammate of Kyle Busch is a past winner (2012) and came home second in 2017. He has four top eight finishes in his last six Clash appearances.
Erik Jones has two Clash starts where he started fourth and finished eighth in 2018 and was involved in that 17 car crash last year on Lap 55. One of his two career wins though was at Daytona (2018 Coke Zero Sugar 400).
